Memory and Cognitive Disorders Clinic

The Memory and Cognitive Disorders Clinic at the Jacobs Neurological Institute is a multidisciplinary effort focused on the diagnosis and treatment of adults with symptoms of memory or other cognitive impairments. Comprehensive evaluations consist of detailed Neurological and Neuropsychological evaluations followed by appropriate imaging studies and laboratory investigation.

Clinical conferences are held weekly between team members with the goal of achieving consistently high levels of diagnostic accuracy. At follow-up, generally two-to-three weeks after the initial evaluations, possible treatment and long-term monitoring plans are discussed in depth with patients and their families. Questions are welcomed and education of caregivers, as well as patients, is emphasized with regard to disease prevention, pathological mechanisms, prognosis, and treatment options. Inclusion within clinical trials may also be an option in certain cases.
